Planning Export Cartons for Confectionery

How carton planning supports product protection, efficient loading and predictable shipping costs.

Export packaging is a system: the individual candy wrap sits inside a retail pack, which fits into a display box or inner carton, and those units must work together inside a master carton. Decisions at each level affect protection, warehouse handling and freight efficiency.

Begin with the retail unit

Confirm the finished dimensions and weight of the consumer pack before fixing carton quantities. Flexible pouches may compress slightly, while rigid tubs, gift boxes and display-ready packaging require more controlled spacing. The orientation of every pack also affects how well the carton uses its internal volume.

Balance protection and efficiency

A tightly packed carton can reduce movement, but excessive pressure may deform gummies, marshmallows or delicate retail boxes. Too much empty space increases movement and wastes freight capacity. Dividers, inner cartons and suitable board strength can help create a practical balance.

Share logistics requirements early

Provide the destination, preferred transport mode, pallet requirements and any retailer carton rules during quotation. Early planning makes it easier to compare packing options, estimate gross weight and prepare clear shipping marks.
